Advertising pays

Wednesday, June 04, 2008

Within 24 hours of the first Quixtar North America/Amway Global television spots airing, we received a report from an IBO that he had gotten a customer referral based on the spot airing.

Now anyone who's seen the ads know we're not promoting a product or service.  We're simply sharing information about the company so people can get to know us as we are -- not as they may have thought us to be.

Yet an IBO received a customer referral because someone saw the spot, connected the Amway name to a spot remover she loved (I'm assuming SA8 PreWash) and called a friend who "knew someone in Amway."

Now the branding might not be right, but the mission was accomplished -- the advertising connected someone who has an interest with an IBO.  Granted, we expect the Quixtar North America-Amway Global branded advertising to pique interest in the opportunity long-term, but we'll take the customer referral all the same.

This IBO benefitted from the advertising because people knew he was a go-to source for products that may have been previously affiliated with the Amway name.  How can other IBOs use the advertising to build their businesses?

I think the IBOs who will benefit the most from this advertising campaign are those who are honest about their Quixtar/Amway Global affiliation.

And those who aren't, won't. :)

Three days ago I had a new (about a month old) customer tell me she saw a "Nutrilite" commercial on T.V.. I didn't have time to clarify, but I bet she was referring to one of these ads. The Nutrilite name probably stood out to her because she's currently taking the Simply Nutrilite supp packs and has been given much info on why Nutrilite is the BEST.

I had a new IBO email me, excited about seeing one of the commercials live on T.V. It was/is empowering to him to see a company he works with being showcased this way.

This campaign has many applications, many audiences, and will have many results--all positive.

Thanks Quixtar/Amway Global.

I am using the direct link from the back office on Quixtar.com to the page that hosts the commercial all by itself.

I am emailing everyone I have a good relationship with and asking them if they have seen our commercials that are being aired during their favorite TV shows (and list the shows and channels from the schedule).

The link in the email is a way of sharing the commercial and co-branding myself in their minds with the commercial and as their Quixtar/Amway guy.

I also send them directly to Quixtar.com/about for more information and invite them to contact me for the details.

I'm also doing this in other blogs and social communities that I belong to.

I don't repeat the information- I simply lead them to it.  And in doing so, they know how to get connected (through me) to the opportunity or products.

Thank all of you at the corp. for doing this for us!  I think this is going to bring our business into the new era and a new perception.

Great job!

What I thought was really slick is during the Democratic Primary discussion last night on CNN one of the commercials came on. I thought it played at the right time with the Democratic Party introducing their candidate and Quixtar/Amway reintroducing itself to America.

Beth,

I have had several IBO's tell me that they've seen the spots and they all thought it was very well done. One of the great thing about the commercials is they help the newer IBO's get credibility with their family and friends immediately.

I definitely appreciate Amway Global's branding efforts and think the transformation is being handled very well.

It makes the business all so more real. When you run into negativity, you can just point at one of the ads and say, "Well, I don't know about all that stuff you've read online, but I think because they advertise and pay out big bucks to us the IBOs that they are real, legit company. Hey they've been around for almost 50 years...that has to say something!"

As one of the younger generation, I have to put up with that sometimes, but normally it's all about the right people. I do not understand how some can see a business opportunity while others see the outlandish like that it's a cult because we actually care about the Free Enterprise system and take advantage of it! We aren't folks sitting at a job all the time, wondering what we are going to do for the "game". We have bigger dreams and bigger goals and are thinking further ahead. What do they call us? Oh yeah, Dreamwalkers is good.

I like this, because since the company is debt free, this advertising process doesn't take away from our bonus money, and I think that's a good deal any way you slice it.

I can't wait until 6-12 months from now when ALL IBOs will have personal testimonials of this type of response from the ad campaign. Thats why its so important to make sure IBOs have there mouths open about the opportunity/products. 'Cause you never no where your customers or IBOs may come from.

A good friend of mine (who happens to also be my job supervisor) is an inactive IBO in my downline, who is very favorable about Quixtar/AG but decided to pursue another home-based opportunity for the time being. One evening a few weeks ago I got a text message from him saying, "Holy crap! Just saw a Quixtar commercial on TV during "Lost".  Couldn't believe my eyes!"

It's amazing how much "credibility" is created just by being shown on TV.  It's the same power the makes people actually think Nike and Tide are quality products, when the only quality about them in their marketing.

Bridgett,

Sounds like you are taking back your scathing remarks regarding your previous comments about the "nametag" newspaper ads.

Tom in Atlanta,

You may be in violation of the advertising rules. Beth, could you provide some input on this issue?

Tex,

My above comment had to do with the three television spots, not the print ad.

I think the print ad is blah, and stand by my "scathing" remarks.

The T.V ads, building on the same concept of the print ad, but a MUCH different execution of it, works.
